To successfully level a centrifuge for safety and proper operation, ensure the centrifuge must be on a level stable surface like a level floor or lab bench.
Tools required: a rotor installed in the centrifuge, a level, and a wrench to adjust leveling feet.
Tech Tip 7.2.20
Don't forget to double check the bottom thickness of your centrifuge adapters to make sure the thicknesses match. The "conical" bottom in thicker and adds ~50 grams in weight. The "round" bottom adapters are much thinner and when these are mismatched can cause a severe centrifuge rotor imbalance.
P.S. people have swapped the adapter bottoms before on accident and didn't note the thickness difference regardless of the adapter color. This actually did cause a centrifuge imbalance.
